I choose to use the best equipment for all of my snowmobile needs, and here I want to share everything that I’ve found with you about the best modular snowmobile helmet.

The FXR Maverick Modular Team Helmet hits all of the marks I look for in a modular snowmobile helmet. I like this helmet style because of the convenience the moveable chin provides when you’re on the trail.

But even though the FXR Maverick includes a well-designed modular chin bar, it’s still built with all of the safety features you want and need to stay safe and protected.

That said, there are a few other awesome helmets you’ll find here that are worth exploring as well. Read on to learn more.

Top Modular Snowmobile Helmets

You can’t go wrong with any of the helmets mentioned below, and I’ll break them down a bit further to help you make a choice that best suits your needs as a snowmobiler.

1. FXR Maverick Modular Team Helmet

  • Best for: Overall
  • Type of Shell Material: Advanced polymer alloy makes it lightweight and very strong
  • Key features: Ultra high lift chin bar, integrated drop-down sun shade, electric face shield
  • Safety considerations: Dual density EPS liner. DOT ECE From 1800G. ECE From 1800G (Europe Only)
  • Modular System: Ultra high lift chin bar provides plenty of room and is very easy to use

This helmet is the top overall choice on the list of best modular snowmobile helmets for good reasons.

First things first, it has an ultra-high lift chin bar, which will easily get out of your way when you want to take a break from riding and grab a bite to eat or a drink of water. Its modular system is well-designed and easy to use. It’s a personal favorite for this reason alone.

FXR Maverick also has plenty to offer when it comes to safety and a dual-density liner inside of an advanced polymer alloy shell translates into excellent protection against impacts without adding much additional weight. It also comes with trusted safety ratings that have been tried and tested for good peace of mind.

This helmet is also very comfortable with a removable breath box and adjustable ventilation system, among a range of other features that add to its value in terms of both performance and comfort.

The inner liner is removable so you can wash it up after long days on the trail, and the electric face shield will keep your line of sight crystal clear all winter long.

2. Castle X Mode Dual-Sport Snowmobile Helmet

  • Best for: Those on a budget.
  • Type of Shell Material: Advanced polycarbonate composite injection molding
  • Key features: Good comfort, safety, and a nice modular chin bar at a lower price than the competition.
  • Safety considerations: Multi-density EPS liner.
  • Modular System: Functional but not quite as easy to use as more expensive options.

This is a solid option for anyone out there who wants a modular helmet’s convenience but still has budget considerations in mind.

CAD shell technology combined with an advanced polycarbonate composite molding adds a good amount of impact protection that offers modern safety without a lot of bulk. An EPS liner adds to this and is even included in the chin bar for another layer of protection.

This helmet also has a pretty sweet drop-down sun visor system that will help keep the sun and glare down when you ride. And the visor it has is coated to help it be anti-fog and anti-scratch.

You’re not going to get the most premium features in the world with this helmet, but it will give you everything you need to get by without spending a lot of money.

3. Ski-Doo Modular 3 Electric SE

  • Best for: Those who want an electric face shield and a trusted brand name.
  • Type of Shell Material: Temp shell with a polycarbonate composite
  • Key features: Electric face shield works really well. Built-in Clear Vision Technolgy in the Visor.
  • Safety considerations: DOT and ECE certifications
  • Modular System: Effective and easy to use. Hugs the face a little closer than some other models but still simple and solid in design.

This is the top electric face-shield style helmet on the list. It keeps your face shield fog and ice-free without worry but built-in power isn’t the only feature that adds the capabilities of this option.

Clear Vision technology gives you a very wide range of vision without any peripheral blocking and the sun shield will drop up or down with a touch of a button.

This helmet comes with the legendary brand reputation of Ski-Doo but is much more than just hype. It is very comfortable and offers serious protection while on the trail as well.

It fits a little snugger than other options, so know that if you are claustrophobic, it’s challenging to find a negative review of this one. Read my full review to learn more.

Best Modular Snowmobile Helmet: What to Look For

The following criteria will help narrow down your choices so you can make a more informed decision when buying a modular snowmobile helmet.

Type of Shell Material

You always want a quality shell material with any snowmobile helmet. It’s your first line of defense against impact.

Advanced polycarbonate and alloy materials will help keep things protective and lightweight.

Safety Consideration

Your helmet needs to offer some sort of safety certification to give it the reliability you need to keep you protected in case of an accident.

DOT and ECE certifications are recommended. Without these, you cannot trust that a helmet can keep your head safe.

Modular System

With a modular snowmobile helmet, you want to make sure that the moveable chin bar is easy to secure into place and move when you need it to.

You also may have a preference in terms of how much room exists between the bar and your chin.

My Verdict

My top choice for the best modular snowmobile helmet is the FXR Maverick Modular Team. In my opinion, it’s hard to beat this option due to the serious comfort and safety it has to offer.

On top of this, a fully moveable chin bar will stay in place when you’re riding and easily flip up and out of the way when you’re ready to take a break on the trail.
